Why Save America's Mother Road?

Think about the movies you have seen in your life that celebrate this American road -- the first that linked Chicago to the West -- and its many landmarks and unusual stops.

Route 66 is more than a road -- it's a part of American Nostalgia that captures the spirit of our freedom to travel. Route 66 winds its way through eight states. Millions of travelers stopped at its unusual shops, hotels, and scenic landmarks on the road to search for a better life…or just a great experience. There's no other route in the world that illustrates the scenery of our country and the value that American "travel by car" experience. Yet with the introduction of interstates and the popularity of air travel, its lights, landmarks, and history have begun to fade.

Preserving Its Famous Shield & Attractions

To illustrate its ongoing support for this cause, Hampton is working with different Route 66 Associations to post much-needed signs along its 2,448 mile stretch of roadway, ultimately trying to highlight for Americans this famous route. Hampton hotels has already restored four landmarks along Route 66 as a part of overall Save-a-Landmark campaign.
